House of Freedom’s inpatient services offers residential staff that supports the clinical staff immensely. Each of the staff that directly supervises our residential program holds a certification from the state of Florida. All of our professionals are licensed and/or credentialed in the state of Florida and are committed to combining their knowledge and experiences to help each individual recover from drug/alcohol abuse.
Below is a list of addictions counselors and behavioral health technicians that are part of our program:
Alejandro Campos, CAC, CBHT
Residential Program Director
Alejandro Campos, Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) and Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) and Residential Director, has been in the organization since 1997. Mr. Campos lived and suffered the ravages of addiction personally and was able to overcome them through the program at House of Freedom. After completing treatment, he was disciple by the founder of the organization, Rev. Esteban Morales, and in turn became an ordained minister by the World Apostolic Counsel (Consejo Apostólico Mundial-CAM). His passion for the drugs and alcohol user awakened in him the need to prepare academically and become certified in the field of addictions. During his journey in the wonderful world of recovery, he met his wife, now professional and psychotherapist Sherlley Y. Maldonado, MS, CAP, CMHP, who works jointly with him assisting in the clinical aspect of the institution.
Susan M. Diaz, CAC, FCCPC, CBHT
Residential Program Manager
Susan Merari Díaz has been officially working as a Program Manager at House of Freedom for 3 years. She began as a volunteer in 2005, and throughout the years has been part of the Clinical Department and counselor of the family support group. In 2005, she was also certified as a Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT), which allowed her to take part in crisis interventions during the recovery process of the residents. In the year 2009, she completed a Child Development Associates (FCCPC). With this education, she was able to detect fundamental developmental deficiencies, apart from the obvious aftereffects of drug addiction. She was also able to target the different learning methods of customers, which allowed them to absorb the given education comfortably and efficiently. In 2011, Susan Merari Diaz finalized her certification as an Addiction Counselor (CAC) working directly with clients in determining a treatment plan. This certification allows her to treat, diagnose and/or refer patients to treatments of more benefit to their recovery.
Jose A. Rivera, BS, CAP, CBHT
Residential Unit Supervisor/ Primary Addictions Counselor
Jose A. Rivera has been an essential part of our team since joining House of Freedom back in 2003. During his tenure at House of Freedom Jose has held various positions such as big brother, junior staff, teacher, and at the moment is our medical consultant, a primary counselor and the residential unit supervisor. Jose had the privileged and honor of being mentored by the founder of House of Freedom Rev. Esteban Morales which taught him how to provide service that exceeds all expectations. Jose earned a Bachelor's degree in General Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico back in 1997 and is a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) and a Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) who is a recovered addict who whent thru House of Freedom's residental program and has been sober since 1999.
Orlando Vargas, BS, CAP, CET
Quality Assurance Coordinator/ Primary Addictions Counselor
Orlando Vargas joined House of Freedom back in 2008 and has served as a primary counselor since. Orlando earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University and has over 10 years of management experience and extensive knowledge in the technology and financial sectors thus making him a great resource for our persons served case management needs. In addition, Orlando is a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) and a Certified E-Therapist (CET) certifying the quality of services he provides. Orlando is dedicated to helping and working with alcoholics and addicts from all different backgrounds, has experience in group and individual counseling and is an active member of the Tobacco-Free Partnership as well as the Osceola County Re-Entry Task Force.
Pastor Carlos J. Morales, CAC, CBHT
Faith-based Counselor
Carlos Javier Morales has been a key component to House of Freedom's success since his inception back in 1997 and is the oldest son of the founder of House of Freedom Rev. Esteban Morales. Rev. Morales took it upon himself to mentor Carlos and prepare him to become the leader he is today. Carlos passion to help those in need to recover from substance abuse have been with him since an early age having seen the adverse effects that addiction can have upon an individual and his family. Carlos has held various positions within House of Freedom ranging from Carwash Manager, Bible Teacher, Associate Pastor, and currently holds the position of Faith-Based Counselor and is the Sr. Pastor of House of Freedom's church community. Carlos is a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC), Certified Behavior Health Technician (CBHT) and additionally completed courses in Business Administration at the University of Puerto Rico and Valencia Community College.
Jesus Esteban Morales, CAC, CBHT
Primary Addictions Counselor
Jesus Esteban Morales is one of the founders Rev. Esteban Morales sons and has been working at House of Freedom since 2002. Jesus is one of the primary counselors here at House of Freedom and has extensive knowledge of recovery techniques gained thru his vast experience throughout the many years of helping people overcome the disease of addiction. Jesus is a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC), Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT), and oversees many of the vocational workshops provided in treatment.
Wilmer Rodriguez, CAC, CBHT
Primary Addictions Counselor
Wilmer Rodriguez, Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) and Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT), has been in House of Freedom since 1998. Mr. Rodriguez reached House of Freedom seeking help from the terrible disease of substance abuse and in 1999 completed House of Freedom’s long term residential treatment and shortly thereafter became part of the staff. As time passed and Mr. Rodriguez’s passion grew, Mr. Rodriguez became a Primary Addictions Counselor here at House of Freedom in order to give back to the community what he had learned during his treatment at HOF. In addition to being a Primary Addictions Counselor, Mr. Rodriguez also is part of the Health & Safety team.
Alexis Diaz, CAC
Primary Addictions Counselor
Alexis Diaz started his journey at House of Freedom back in 2003 as a person served and has been sober since 2002. Throughout his years at House of Freedom Alexis has held different positions that have enabled him to better understand the needs of our persons served ranging from Recovery Coach, SAT Procedure Specialist, to presently being a Primary Counselor. Because of his desire to enhance the service he provides, Alexis took it upon himself to become a Certified Additions Counselor (CAC) in 2011.
Angel L. Rodriguez, CBHT
Recovery Support Counselor
Angel Rodriguez (CBHT) joined House of Freedom back in 1997 and has held various positions during his tenure here. Some of the positions Angel has held include but are not limited to recovery coach, addictions counselor, carwash manager, sound engineer and the position he holds now which is maintenance supervisor. Angel has a passion to aid those in need of help, he was taught this by House of Freedom's founder Rev. Esteban Morales whose focus was to provide service that went above and beyond human expectations. Until this day Angel continues to show his passion by helping those who suffer from the disease of substance abuse.
Felix J. Campos
Recovery Support Counselor
My name is Felix J. Campos, and I am part of the House of Freedom team since 2008. During my beginnings at House of Freedom I was able to apply my skills in the area of maintenance and construction, in my development; I also became part of supporting the recovery process of the young people who are in this institution. In 2009, I obtained a permanent position and from that moment, through training offered by the institution, I have become educated about the disease process of addiction and the great journey of recovery. Today I am one of the recovery support staff and enjoy the privilege to coach and reinforce the healing process of each of the individuals of our institution.

Recovery Coach
John Buschman, recovery coach and program staff at House of Freedom has been with the organization since 2003. Going through the devastating disease of substance abuse himself, Mr. Buschman was able to overcome it by completing the long term residential treatment at House of Freedom. Till this day, Mr. Buschman has been working as a full-time volunteer and as a result has gained knowledge in remodeling, construction, maintenance, and is also part of the worship team in our spiritual therapies.
